ETHIOPIA October 7 - Abdisa Wakjira teaches the Jeldu people of Weber village about salvation in Christ. Twice there were attempts to burn down his house with him inside. Later townsfolk beat a delegation of church leaders visiting him. Then, at the end of August, he was attacked by a group of masked men which left him with fractured ribs and skull. BANGLADESH October 7 - While distributing copies of a Christian book on September 14, Nazrul was dragged behind a grocery shop by Muslims plotting to beat him.The crowd destroyed about four thousand copies of the books, but Nazrul was able to escape.

MEXICO October 23 - Three believers were jailed for their faith by local authorities and political bosses (caciques) on Oct. 17, in the municipality of Huixtan. A fourth Christian was not able to bear the fear of expulsion from the community and agreed to obey the conditions set by the authorities. When the three Christians were released from jail after about three hours, the community was angry and rioted for most of the night.

PAKISTAN October 23 (Compass) - On Aug. 1, hundreds of Islamic extremists targeting the Christian area in Gojra looted more than 100 houses and set fire to 50 of them, burning seven Christians to death. Naveed Masih said police arrested and tortured him and his brother Nauman because they had given shelter to more than 300 women, children and elderly people on the day of attack. "They hung me upside down and then brutally beat me," reported Naveed. Only one of the Muslim assailants is in jail.
