IRAQ: Presents and Bibles for Kids

“Hello brothers and sisters, I am pastor in an Evangelical church in Baghdad and I am desperate for help in many ways. Can you contact me? God bless you.” Our Iraqi contacts are receiving emails and messages for help and support, and in some cases Open Doors can help in needs. “For reasons of security and logistics that is more difficult with churches in Baghdad, but we managed to get some gifts and Bibles to them," says one of our Iraqi contacts.

Iraq is a still country in despair and in many problems, but still positive events are happening. Some Christians in Iraq have the desire to work on their future and on that of the country, despite all destructive things. OD continues to work in Iraq through our contacts and tries to encourage the local Christians, in different ways: with distributing Christian literature, with vocational courses, for computing and for non-Arabic languages, and with spiritual courses.

Recently our Iraqi contacts in Baghdad helped with the distribution of parcels (with sugar, salt, pencils, crayons, paper, other children materials) and Bibles to encourage the Christians.

“We showed a Christian film to the children of the Sunday school and we gave a brief introduction and explanation of the film, which is about obedience, wisdom, love, prayer and fasting. After the presentation we gave the children gifts and a Bible”, says one of our contacts in Baghdad. “Please continue to pray for the Christians and the Church in Iraq, especially in Baghdad, since the situation is still very difficult.”
